In an event that stands out for its innovation and academic relevance, our Senior Attorney, Diego Parra, participated in the first date of this edition as a referee in the Antitrust Moot 2024, organized by Bullard Falla Ezcurra and Universidad del Pacífico. This year, the competition focused on the topic «Control of Concentrations between Professional Football Associations», addressing complex aspects of Competition Law and market analysis.
The Antitrust Moot is an annual event organized by Estudio Bullard Falla Ezcurra and Universidad del Pacífico, in which law and economics students test their knowledge in front of demanding juries made up of lawyers and economists specialized in competition and regulatory issues. Each team must defend a position as plaintiff or defendant in a fictitious case involving controversial aspects of these issues.
This event, being the first of its kind in the country, has served as inspiration for the creation of other competitions. It allows participants to develop skills for specialized multidisciplinary work on competition and regulatory issues. The analysis required implies a solid knowledge of legal aspects and the handling of economic theory and techniques applicable to these matters.
Diego Parra shared his experience of participating in the event: «It has been a rewarding and enriching experience that allowed us to analyze a very complex case from an economic, arbitration and antitrust point of view. These activities allow students to develop analytical skills and legal criteria from very early on, which adds much value to their training.»
Our team’s participation in academic events, such as the Free Competition Moot, not only enriches the students’ training, but also generates great value for CDR/Consulting. We are proud to have our lawyers invited as jurors and arbitrators in high-level competitions, which reflects our commitment to excellence and continuing education in the legal field.
